Polyvocality: SOLIDARITY IN THE TIME OF POLITICAL RUPTURE

2022- 2023

"Polyvocality: Solidarity in the Time of Political Rupture" is a virtual exhibition designed to amplify the voices of Iranian artists around the world who use clay as the core of their practice. Reflecting on the uprising in Iran in Fall 2022 and other relevant socio-political issues, this exhibition highlights the role of clay in expressing contemplation on current uprisings and advocating for human rights, social justice, and freedom. Due to overwhelming challenges at that time, including detention and lack of access to resources caused by civil strife, many artists could not participate in the initial series. In 2023, the exhibition traveled to various locations in the United States, including the NCECA Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, and The Women Working with Clay Symposium at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. Each event featured works from invited ceramic artists and those selected through an open call for submissions. The project is also currently exhibited virtually through Artaxis, an international platform for ceramic artists.
