...still traveling
Video, Photography, Ceramic Objects, 2017
I wander.
I wander in search of myself.
I exist through my name,
We both are nomads, my name and I.
We both are landscapes for ongoing curiosities, my accent and I:
Identity is the conundrum of modern times and language one of its offspring. Emigration mandates individuals to learn new languages and hence the means of self-expression become an entangled mix of one’s mother tongue and the secondary jargon.
The emigrant tries to communicate through the new vice but the outcome is an expression devoid of sense and sensibility. The attributions of the new world’s identity bewilders the expatriate to the point of losing sense in speaking her own tongue. Therefore she becomes a traitor to her native land and a trespasser in her new home.
